Aldi Tops the List. Aldi has secured the crown as the most budget-friendly supermarket. With an average basket cost of just £65.21 in August 2023, Aldi makes it easy to save on your grocery bill.

Lidl: A Close Second. Lidl is a strong contender, with an average basket price of £66.53. It's a great option if you're looking to save without compromising on quality.

Affordable Online Shopping. Both Aldi and Lidl also excel in online shopping. Aldi offers home delivery for just £1.99 through Deliveroo or free with Deliveroo Plus (starting at £11.49/month) with a minimum spend of £20. Lidl doesn't provide home delivery but offers a loyalty card scheme via the Lidl Plus app, providing access to coupons and exclusive deals.

For Bigger Hauls: Asda and Morrisons. If you prefer stocking up on groceries, Asda and Morrisons have got you covered. Asda's average cost for a substantial trolley of 133 items is £325.35, and Morrisons is a close second at £341.92.

Watch Out for the Priciest Option. On the flip side, Waitrose tends to be the priciest choice. The same basket or trolley of items that's budget-friendly at Aldi or Asda can be 22% to 13% more expensive at Waitrose.

In 2023, smart shoppers have plenty of options to keep their grocery bills in check. Whether you shop in-store or online or prefer larger hauls, Aldi, Lidl, Asda, and Morrisons are your go-to destinations for stretching your budget.

Happy shopping!
